Chia seeds are wonderful
for birds, as they are high in Omega 3 and vitamins. Chia seeds can improve
feathering, help keep skin supple and are a good source of Vitamin E, B and
Calcium. Chia seeds also contain boron, which is good for bones.
Chia
seeds are mucilaginous, so you DO NOT want to soak them as you do other seeds.
If soaked, they will form a thick gel. To sprout Chia seeds, follow the package
instructions. Chia seeds can be fed dry, added to birdie bread,
or sprinkled on birdie cookable foods.
Please note:
Testing dates on all packages refer to the date the sprouts were tested to make
sure the crop is viable for germination. This is NOT an expiration
date.
