Best Food for Amazon Parrots
Amazon parrots are outgoing, vocal birds that genuinely love to eat. That enthusiasm is part of their charm, but it also means Amazons can put on weight easily, so a balanced diet matters.
What Amazon parrots need
- A pellet base, not seed-only. Seed-heavy diets are high in fat and low in key nutrients.
- Vitamin A. Orange and dark green vegetables, like sweet potato, carrots and leafy greens, are great daily additions.
- Nuts and treats in moderation. Amazons are prone to weight gain, so keep rich foods to a sensible share of the diet.

Switching to a new food
Mix the new food with what your Amazon eats now and increase it gradually over two to four weeks, watching that your bird eats well and keeps a healthy weight.
Our blends are made fresh, so keep about two weeks' supply at room temperature in a sealed container and refrigerate the rest. Don't freeze it.
