Best Food for Conures

Conures are playful, energetic birds, and they range from small green-cheeked conures to larger sun and jenday conures. The best food for your conure depends partly on its size.

What conures need

  • A pellet base. Seed-only diets are high in fat and missing important vitamins and minerals.
  • Fruits and vegetables. Conures love variety, and fresh produce adds vitamins and keeps meals interesting.
  • The right bite size. Smaller conures do better with smaller pellets and fruit pieces.

For smaller conures: Small Bird Benji Ultimate Blend

Benji is our Ultimate Blend made with smaller pellets and fruits for smaller beaks. It has fortified, non-colored pellets, mixed nuts, dried fruits and dried vegetables. It's a great fit for green-cheeked conures and similar-sized birds.

Switching to a new food

Mix the new food with your conure's current food and increase it gradually over two to four weeks, making sure your bird is eating well.

Our blends are made fresh, so keep about two weeks' supply at room temperature in a sealed container and refrigerate the rest. Don't freeze it.
